Privacy Statement
Your privacy is important and steps are taken to
ensure that your personal information is not given to outside persons. This being
said, you should understand that
anyone who creates an account on this web site will have access to your profile
and any information you have in your profile.
About Alumni Online
This is an online service that allows alumni to set
up personal profiles to let others know what they've been doing since graduation.
Members can view each other's profiles and photos and communicate through a message
board and a deceased alumni listing. Members can change their profiles at any time.
The only required information for joining this web site is your e-mail address.
Your address is not made available to third parties and is encoded in an attempt
to thwart spam "robots" that crawl web pages looking for valid e-mail addresses.
As stated above, your information is available to anyone who creates an account.
It is possible that a person who is not an alumnus of the school can create an account.
There are two security features to minimize this risk: (1) the person must know
the mascot, and (2) the person must enter a code from an image. The former attempts
to thwart non-alumni from creating accounts, the latter is targeted at automatic
spam "robots" that try to automatically create accounts. Neither of these is fool-proof.
Information Collected
In addition to any user-submitted personal information
in one's profile, this site also tracks use information such as when members log
in and what other member's profiles they view. The only personal information available
to non-members is what's found on the announcements page (under donations) and includes
the person's name (current and maiden) and graduating year. There may be other instances
other than the donations section that may contain a person's name and graduating
year. No personal information, other than what was stated here, is made available
to non-members. E-mail addresses are also not accessible to non-members.
Invitations
Members can send formatted invitations to friends
and family. This is done via e-mail. The sender's name and graduating year, along
with an optional personal message from the sender, is included in the invitational
e-mail. The recipient's e-mail address is not stored in any way other than in the
system's e-mail "out box", which is not used.
Use of Cookies
This web site uses both persistent and non-persistent
browser cookies. No personal information is kept in the persistent (stored on your
hard-drive) cookies. The session cookies are removed by the browser when it is closed.
Cookies must be enabled for the site to function properly.
Message Board
Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily post public information to Message
Boards, that that information can be accessed by other members and can in turn be
used by those people to send you unsolicited communications.
Correcting/Updating or Removing Information
Members of this web site may modify or remove any of their personal information
at any time. Members can also remove their account entirely by removing their e-mail
address in their profile and clicking Save. This will prompt the system to ask if
the account should be deleted entirely. Deleting an account also deletes all personal
information, message board posts, events, and pictures.
Sharing and Disclosure of Information
This web site will not disclose any personal information to any third party unless
legally forced to. A person may have their login information sent to them via e-mail.
This information will only be sent to the e-mail address identified in the account
profile. The administrator will also not send login information to any e-mail address
except the one identified in the profile.
